Trong nghiên cứu này, tình hình hiện tại của năm loại hợp chất hữu cơ độc hại và chất gây rối loạn nội tiết trong trầm tích của các con sông quanh Bắc Kinh, tức là, hydrocarbon thơm đa vòng (PAHs), ester axit phthalic (PAEs), thuốc trừ sâu clo hữu cơ (OCPs), estrogen (Es) và bisphenol A (BPA), bao gồm 56 chất gây ô nhiễm, đã được phân tích và so sánh với các thông tin đã được ghi nhận trong tài liệu lịch sử. Các rủi ro sinh thái cũng đã được đánh giá. Nồng độ tổng hợp của PAHs, PAEs, OCPs, Es và BPA dao động từ 232,5 ng·g–1 đến 5429,7 ng·g–1, 2047,2 ng·g–1 đến 18051,5 ng·g–1, 4,5 ng·g–1 đến 11,7 ng·g–1, 18,1 ng·g–1 đến 105,2 ng·g–1 và 36,3 ng·g–1 đến 69,6 ng·g–1, tương ứng. Trong số năm loại hợp chất hữu cơ này, nồng độ của PAHs và OCPs đã giảm đáng kể trong mười năm qua, trong khi nồng độ của PAEs và Es có xu hướng tăng so với các nghiên cứu trước. BPA vẫn duy trì ở mức cao vừa phải, như cách đây mười năm. Rủi ro của PAEs ở tất cả các địa điểm mẫu, và fluoranthenes, benzo[a]anthracene và benzo[a]pyrene trong trầm tích sông Wenyu, tương đối cao. Những kết quả này bổ sung vào cơ sở dữ liệu về mức nồng độ của các hợp chất hữu cơ độc hại trong trầm tích của các con sông Bắc Kinh.
