Tác động của cerium (Ce) hòa tan lên hiệu suất điện hóa của các anode hợp kim magie (Mg) được nghiên cứu thông qua thử nghiệm mất khối lượng, đo đạc điện hóa và phân tích bề mặt. Kết quả cho thấy, việc bổ sung Ce với nồng độ 0.174 wt.% làm tăng cường khả năng chống ăn mòn của Mg trong nước biển thông qua việc hình thành lớp sản phẩm ăn mòn chắc chắn và giảm kích thước hạt của hợp kim Mg. Hơn nữa, các hợp kim Mg-Ce đã được ứng dụng trong pin Mg-nước biển, đạt được mật độ năng lượng cao là 627.53 mWh g−1 với hiệu suất anode đạt 43.49%, gấp khoảng 11 lần so với Mg nguyên chất đúc.
