Tại Trung Quốc, Kudingcha đã được sử dụng trong gần 2.000 năm như một loại trà để giải khát, loại bỏ đờm, làm tỉnh táo và cải thiện thị lực. Nhóm Kudingcha lá to rất được ưa chuộng vì những tác động tiềm năng của nó đối với chuyển hóa lipid, điều này được cho là nhờ vào sự hiện diện của các thành phần đặc trưng.
