Bài báo này xem xét ảnh hưởng của sự cạnh tranh giữa các công ty trong một ngành đến quá trình quốc tế hóa của các doanh nghiệp mới trong một nền kinh tế mới nổi. Dựa trên lý thuyết tổ chức công nghiệp và lý thuyết thể chế, giả thuyết được đưa ra là ảnh hưởng của mức độ tập trung ngành (được coi là chỉ số của sự cạnh tranh giữa các công ty) đối với quá trình quốc tế hóa của doanh nghiệp mới sẽ thay đổi theo sự gia tăng các quá trình tự do hóa kinh tế. Phân tích các doanh nghiệp mới từ 67 ngành công nghiệp ở Ấn Độ trong giai đoạn từ 1996 đến 2014 cho thấy mối quan hệ giữa mức độ tập trung ngành và quá trình quốc tế hóa của doanh nghiệp mới đã dần chuyển từ mối quan hệ hình chữ U sang mối quan hệ hình chữ U ngược trong khoảng thời gian này. Những hệ quả cho tính tổng quát của nghiên cứu trong một nền kinh tế mới nổi qua thời gian cũng được thảo luận.
