Gánh nặng ngày càng tăng của bệnh tim mạch ở bệnh nhân viêm khớp dạng thấp và lupus ban đỏ hệ thống gần đây đã trở thành trọng tâm của nhiều nghiên cứu sâu rộng. Các yếu tố nguy cơ gây xơ vữa và tình trạng viêm mất cân bằng là những nguyên nhân chính, dẫn đến tăng cường sự hình thành xơ vữa động mạch ở các nhóm bệnh nhân viêm. Các con đường phân tử chung được chia sẻ giữa xơ vữa động mạch và bệnh viêm có thể liên quan. Trong bài đánh giá này, chúng tôi vạch ra các yếu tố quyết định chính của sự gia tăng tỷ lệ mắc bệnh tim mạch ở những bệnh nhân mắc bệnh viêm tại mỗi bước của quá trình hình thành xơ vữa động mạch.
