Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là đánh giá hiệu quả của chụp cộng hưởng từ (MRI) vú đối với việc lập kế hoạch phẫu thuật trước phẫu thuật hoặc trong thao tác phẫu thuật. Một trăm sáu mươi phụ nữ mắc bệnh ung thư vú đã tham gia nghiên cứu. Sự đóng góp của MRI so với chụp nhũ ảnh (MMG) và siêu âm (USG), sự đồng thuận về mô học của chúng, và tác động của chúng đối với điều trị phẫu thuật đã được đánh giá một cách dự prospectively. Trong 48 (30.0%) bệnh nhân, MRI đã phát hiện những tổn thương nghi ngờ mà MMG và USG không phát hiện được. Chẩn đoán bằng MRI là chính xác ở 17 (10.6%) trong số đó, trong khi 31 bệnh nhân còn lại (19.4%) các tổn thương bổ sung được MRI phát hiện và diễn giải là ác tính hóa ra lại không phải là ác tính.
