Abstract

The locomotor behavior of the collembolanFolsomia candidaWillem 1902 (Isotomidae) was automatically quantified during exposure to soil treated with sublethal concentrations of dimethoate. During the 36 h of measurement, significant changes were seen in walked distance, mean velocity, and turning rate. It is concluded that these end points provide a sensitive measure of toxic stress.
