Nghiên cứu này điều tra đóng góp của các vườn cộng đồng đô thị đối với sự sẵn có thực phẩm tại Đô thị Emfuleni, tỉnh Gauteng, Nam Phi. Mục tiêu là xác định khả năng sản xuất rau quả của các vườn cộng đồng đô thị trong suốt cả năm và đánh giá đóng góp của các vườn này đối với sự sẵn có thực phẩm. Nghiên cứu được tiến hành tại sáu (6) khu phố của Đô thị Emfuleni thông qua các bảng hỏi bán cấu trúc. Mẫu 254 người tham gia được lựa chọn ngẫu nhiên từ 418 nông dân đô thị. Một kỹ thuật phân tích mô tả và ANOVA một chiều đã được sử dụng để phân tích dữ liệu bằng phần mềm Gói thống kê cho các khoa học xã hội (SPSS) phiên bản 23. Nghiên cứu cho thấy rằng các vườn cộng đồng đã góp phần vào sự sẵn có thực phẩm của các người tham gia bằng việc cung cấp rau tươi cho hầu hết các nông dân đô thị và các thành viên trong hộ gia đình của họ trong suốt cả năm. Hơn nữa, nghiên cứu cũng phát hiện ra rằng không có mối quan hệ nào giữa sự sẵn có rau quả và giới tính của người tham gia. Dựa trên kết quả, nghiên cứu khuyến nghị rằng các nông dân trong các vườn cộng đồng đô thị nên tập trung vào việc tăng cường và duy trì sản lượng của họ để đảm bảo rằng họ có đủ rau quả để nuôi sống gia đình trong suốt cả năm.
