Châm cứu là một phương pháp y học cổ truyền Trung Quốc đã trở nên phổ biến ở nền văn hóa phương Tây và trên toàn thế giới. Phương pháp này bao gồm việc chèn những cây kim mảnh vào da để kích thích các dây thần kinh, cơ bắp và mô liên kết trên toàn cơ thể nhằm mục tiêu giảm đau, căng thẳng và stress. Một cách tổng quát, châm cứu thực chất là một nhóm các thủ tục khác nhau. Về mặt khái niệm, nó được cho là kích thích các kinh mạch của cơ thể, hoặc các kênh mang năng lượng, trong nỗ lực sửa chữa sự thiếu cân bằng và phục hồi sức khỏe. Những lợi ích này được cho là xuất phát từ sự gần gũi của các điểm châm cứu với các dây thần kinh thông qua các ion canxi tế bào.
