Bài báo mô tả các cơ chế chính của sự biến dạng của khối đá của tầng nền Paleozoic của Tien Shan, bổ sung cho hiện tượng uốn dọc theo bề mặt của nó trong quá trình kiến tạo núi cao. Các cơ chế biến dạng thể tích của các loại khác nhau được đặc trưng bằng ví dụ về những cấu trúc địa chất cụ thể: hỗn hợp địa chất, biến dạng dẻo, dòng chảy tân sinh, tái kết tinh động, v.v. Đã xác định rằng trên lãnh thổ của Tien Shan, sự biến dạng của các bề mặt trước Mesozoic và các bề mặt trẻ hơn của lớp phủ trầm tích plate-orogenic dỡ bỏ liên quan chủ yếu đến tính di động 3D (dòng chảy Reid) của các khối núi của tầng nền Paleozoic. Các giả thuyết được đưa ra liên quan đến vật lý của quá trình dựa trên những tiến bộ trong cơ học của môi trường khối-hạt và cơ học đứt gãy.
