Bài báo này khám phá hành vi hợp tác khác nhau trong các loại công ty đầu tư mạo hiểm (VC) tại Trung Quốc, đặc biệt tập trung vào các công ty VC nước ngoài, sở hữu tư nhân và nhà nước, cũng như hành vi của các công ty này khi đối mặt với những bất ổn thể chế. Phân tích dữ liệu bằng phương pháp hỗn hợp đã được thực hiện dựa trên cơ sở dữ liệu Simuton gồm 1.173 công ty VC và các cuộc phỏng vấn theo hình thức cuốn chiếu cũng được thực hiện tại các công ty VC nhà nước và tư nhân của Trung Quốc cũng như các công ty VC nước ngoài. Kết quả cho thấy các nhà đầu tư VC nước ngoài có xu hướng xây dựng các mối quan hệ chặt chẽ hơn so với các công ty VC nhà nước và tư nhân của Trung Quốc nhằm vượt qua sự bất ổn.
