New coatings were obtained by using the following perfluoropolyether product (PFEUMA): CF3CF2O(CF2CF2O)m(CF2O)nCF2CH2OCONHCH2CH2OCOC (CH3)=CH2 m/n=2, Mn=1079 The fluorinated coatings prepared were of two types: All coatings, even when the concentration of the PFEUMA was very low (<1% w/w), exhibited hydrophobic and lipophobic properties. XPS analyses showed that the fluorinated monomer preferentially concentrated at the air surface of the films and a fluorine gradient normal to the surface was present. The surface properties of the films could change by changing the substrate or the environmental conditions.
