Phần lớn những người uống rượu nặng và sử dụng ma túy bất hợp pháp là người trưởng thành có việc làm, nhưng vẫn thiếu những nỗ lực ngăn ngừa lạm dụng chất kích thích tinh vi tại nơi làm việc. Bài viết này tổng quan các phương pháp ngăn ngừa lạm dụng chất kích thích tại nơi làm việc và trình bày kết quả của một thử nghiệm thực địa về chương trình ngăn ngừa nhằm vào từng người lao động.
