Trong nghiên cứu hiện tại, chúng tôi đã sử dụng thiết kế nhật ký định lượng để điều tra sự biến động trong con người về tính tham gia và hiệu suất học tập của sinh viên. Ngoài ra, chúng tôi đã điều tra xem liệu sinh viên có tính cách Cởi mở cao (so với thấp) có phản ứng khác nhau với các nguồn tài nguyên hàng tuần của họ hay không. Mẫu nghiên cứu bao gồm 45 sinh viên năm nhất chuyên ngành tâm lý học, những người đã hoàn thành bảng hỏi trong 3 tuần; hai lần mỗi tuần (N = 45 × 6 = 270 lần) - trong những ngày họ có các cuộc họp nhóm hướng dẫn. Các gia sư đã đánh giá hành vi học tập tích cực của mỗi sinh viên trong các cuộc họp này. Kết quả của phân tích mô hình hồi quy tuyến tính phân cấp cho thấy rằng tính tham gia học tập đã hoàn toàn trung gian hóa mối quan hệ giữa các nguồn cá nhân và hoạt động học tập được quan sát; các nguồn tài nguyên học tập có mối liên hệ tích cực gián tiếp với các hoạt động học tập thông qua tính tham gia học tập. Ngoài ra, các hoạt động học tập được quan sát có mối quan hệ tích cực với điểm số khóa học. Như đã giả thuyết, tính cách Cởi mở đã làm mạnh thêm mối quan hệ tích cực giữa các nguồn lực cá nhân/học tập và tính tham gia học tập. Các phát hiện của chúng tôi nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của việc khuyến khích sự tham gia của sinh viên. Chúng tôi kết luận bằng một cuộc thảo luận về những hệ quả lý thuyết cho giáo dục và các gợi ý cho nghiên cứu trong tương lai.
