Các phức hợp [Au2(H2Gy3DH)2]Cl2 (1), [Au(H2Gy3Me)]Cl3 (2) và [Au(H2Gy3Et)]Cl3 (3) đã được tổng hợp từ glyoxaldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazone) (H2Gy3DH) và các dẫn xuất N(3)-methyl (H2Gy3Me) và N(3)-ethyl (H2Gy3Et) của nó. Các bis(thiosemicarbazones) và các phức hợp vàng(I) và vàng(III) của chúng đã thể hiện hoạt tính chống sinh sản đối với các tế bào HL-60, Jurkat (bệnh bạch cầu) và MCF-7 (ung thư vú) ở nồng độ 10 μmol L−1. Phức hợp (2) có khả năng ức chế hoạt động thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) trong điều kiện in vitro, điều này cho thấy việc ức chế TrxR có thể là một phần trong cơ chế hoạt động của nó.
