Một số nghiên cứu đã điều tra sinh thái của lửng sọc đô thị (Mephitis mephitis) mặc dù chúng đóng vai trò là một trong những loài truyền bệnh dại chính và có khả năng tồn tại tốt trong các cảnh quan này. Thông tin về vùng sống, di chuyển hàng đêm và sự lựa chọn môi trường sống là rất quan trọng cho kế hoạch quản lý bệnh dại liên quan đến việc đặt bẫy vaccine dại qua đường miệng (ORV) và cho việc quản lý quần thể lửng nói chung. Mục tiêu của chúng tôi là thu thập thông tin sinh thái cơ bản với sự nhấn mạnh vào sinh thái không gian của lửng sọc đô thị ở vùng Bằng phẳng Lớn phía Bắc, mà tài liệu hiện có còn thiếu. Chúng tôi đã sử dụng công nghệ theo dõi qua sóng vô tuyến để theo dõi 22 cá thể lửng (4 đực, 18 cái) từ tháng 9 năm 2016 đến tháng 11 năm 2016 và từ tháng 3 năm 2017 đến tháng 11 năm 2017. Kích thước vùng sống được xác định bằng phương pháp ước lượng mật độ kernel với việc làm mịn bởi thử nghiệm chéo bình phương tối thiểu cho thấy rằng các cá thể lửng đực (\overline{x} = 4.36 km2, SE±0.79) có vùng sống lớn hơn so với các cá thể cái (\overline{x} = 1.79 km2, SE±0.24).
