Các mối quan hệ giữa các thành phần khác nhau của rối loạn chức năng thùy trán và sự chú ý tự nguyện đã được nghiên cứu. Những bệnh nhân tâm thần phân liệt không sử dụng thuốc và các đối chứng bình thường phù hợp đã được tuyển chọn và đánh giá qua các bài kiểm tra cử động mắt theo mượt mà, cử động mắt saccadic tự nguyện và bằng các bài kiểm tra thần kinh tâm lý (bài kiểm tra Toluse-Pieron và bài kiểm tra phân loại thẻ Wisconsin). Không tìm thấy mối quan hệ rõ ràng nào giữa hiệu suất cử động mắt và suy giảm thần kinh tâm lý.
