Skin effect in cylindrical segments placed in a harmonical transverse magnetic field

In the paper, eddy current losses and electrodynamic forces in cylindrical segments (Joffe's conductor) placed in a transverse homogeneous magnetic field sinusoidally changing with time were determined by means of the Bubnov-Galerkin method coupled with the separation of variables. Numerical computation served as a basis for plotting both real power losses and electrodynamic forces.
