Selection of human skin microtopography quantitative parameters by principal components analysis
Tóm tắt
Skin surface replicas of the forearm and the abdomen of 29 subjects were studied with a profilometer. This apparatus gives quantitative measurements of the microtopography of skin using seven parameters. The principal components analysis (PCA) applied on the data given by the profilometer confirmed the existence of two groups of parameters: amplitude and spacing (wavelength). The PCA also shows the difference between two body sites, the forearm and the abdomen, in two directions of scanning (at 0o and 90o to body or limb axes). This work shows that the two parameters out of the seven are able to describe satisfactorily the skin surface profile. This reduces the amount of work necessary and will increase the analysis potential of results obtained from similar studies in the future.
