Die Entwicklung eines chronischen Schmerzsyndroms nach ischämischem oder hämorrhagischem Schlaganfall ist nicht selten. Dachte man früher bei zentralen Schmerzen noch ausschließlich an thalamische Läsionen, weiß man heute, dass auf allen Ebenen der Neuroachse die Schmerzwahrnehmung beeinflusst werden kann. Diagnostik und eine effektive Therapie sind für die Lebensqualität der betroffenen Patienten entscheidend.
