Mục đích của nghiên cứu này là dự đoán khả năng phát triển của noãn người trong quá trình ICSI thông qua việc phân tích connexin 43 (Cx43) ở các tế bào nang bao quanh noãn trưởng thành. Các tế bào nang người được tách biệt bằng tay khỏi phức hợp noãn-nang dưới kính hiển vi. Việc phân tích mRNA Cx43 được thực hiện bằng phương pháp phản ứng chuỗi polymerase theo thời gian thực (RT-PCR) trong các tế bào nang. Không có mối quan hệ đáng kể nào giữa mức độ biểu hiện của Cx43 và tỷ lệ thụ tinh hay tỷ lệ phân chia. Tuy nhiên, mức độ biểu hiện Cx43 thấp hơn trong nhóm có hình thái tốt (các blastome >7 tế bào với phân mảnh <10% vào ngày thứ 3) so với các nhóm khác (p = 0.035).
