Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là đánh giá định lượng khả năng của các đo lường mới dựa trên MRI trong việc phân biệt giai đoạn thấp và cao của sa nội tạng vùng chậu. Nghiên cứu hồi cứu này đã sử dụng dữ liệu từ 207 phụ nữ có các loại và giai đoạn sa khác nhau. Thông tin nhân khẩu học, lịch sử lâm sàng và dữ liệu MRI động đã được thu thập từ cơ sở dữ liệu. Các đo lường MRI mới đã được trích xuất và phân tích dựa trên các đường tham chiếu sau: đường pubococcygeal (PCL), đường giữa pubic (MPL), đường phối hợp thật (TCL), đường phối hợp sản khoa (OCL) và đường phối hợp chéo (DCL). Một mô hình phân loại dựa trên SVM đã được thiết kế để đánh giá tác động của các đặc trưng (các biến) trong việc phân loại sa thành giai đoạn thấp hoặc cao. Mô hình phân loại sử dụng SVM có thể xác định chính xác sa trước với độ chính xác rất cao (>0,90), và sa đỉnh và sa sau với độ chính xác tốt (0,80 – 0,90). Hai đặc trưng mới được đề xuất dựa trên MRI đã được tìm thấy là có ý nghĩa trong việc xác định sa trước và sa sau: góc giữa TCL và MPL đối với sa trước, và góc giữa DCL và PCL đối với sa sau. Độ chính xác tổng thể của việc xác định sa sau đã tăng từ 47 % lên 80 % khi các đặc trưng mới được đề xuất dựa trên MRI được xem xét. Các đo lường dựa trên MRI được đề xuất là hiệu quả trong việc phân biệt giai đoạn thấp và cao của sa nội tạng vùng chậu, đặc biệt là đối với sa sau.
