Các trẻ sinh cực non (những trẻ được sinh ra trước 28 tuần tuổi thai) rất non nớt, yêu cầu phải được chăm sóc trong một thời gian dài tại đơn vị chăm sóc đặc biệt cho trẻ sơ sinh (NICU). Đối với cha mẹ, tình trạng sức khỏe nghiêm trọng của con họ và thời gian nằm viện kéo dài gây căng thẳng và rối loạn tâm lý. Nghiên cứu này nhằm khám phá nhu cầu hỗ trợ tâm lý xã hội của cha mẹ trẻ sinh cực non, và cách mà NICU với tư cách là một tổ chức và đội ngũ nhân viên đáp ứng hoặc không đáp ứng những nhu cầu này.
