Bài viết tổng hợp các kiến thức về dịch tễ học, nguyên nhân và điều trị các rối loạn tâm thần đồng mắc ở bệnh nhân mắc bệnh cơ xương khớp. Các nghiên cứu dịch tễ học cho thấy bệnh nhân mắc các bệnh cơ xương khớp có nguy cơ cao hơn rõ rệt bị rối loạn tâm thần đồng mắc so với những người không mắc các bệnh này cũng như so với những người khỏe mạnh về thể chất. Để trả lời câu hỏi về mối liên hệ sinh bệnh giữa các bệnh này, cho thấy rằng các đồng mắc cụ thể có các tương tác cụ thể. Ví dụ, một mô hình nguyên nhân khả dĩ được trình bày cho các bệnh về khớp thoái hóa và viêm cũng như các rối loạn trầm cảm, cho rằng các rối loạn trầm cảm xảy ra do các bệnh về khớp và có thể ảnh hưởng tiêu cực đến chúng.
