Vỏ lựu được biến đổi đã được sử dụng làm chất hấp thụ để thực hiện quá trình sinh hấp thụ uranium(VI) từ dung dịch nước. Chất hấp thụ sinh học đã được đặc trưng hóa bằng phương pháp quang phổ hồng ngoại có biến đổi Fourier, phép quang phổ phát xạ tia X phân tán năng lượng, phân tích kích thước hạt và xác định pHpzc. “Dưới các điều kiện thí nghiệm tối ưu,” khả năng hấp thụ tối đa đạt 93,40 mg L−1. Dữ liệu cân bằng phù hợp tốt với mô hình đồng thể Freundlich và Temkin. Dữ liệu tính toán từ mô hình động học áp dụng cho thấy sự đồng thuận tốt nhất với mô hình bậc hai giả định. Nghiên cứu nhiệt động lực cho thấy quá trình hấp thụ là quá trình thu nhiệt và không tự phát.
