Pilot gerandomiseerde gecontroleerde trial naar een online oudertraining voor ouders van tieners

Adolescenten met externaliserend gedrag lopen het risico op het ontwikkelen van sociale en gezondheidsproblemen die ook in de volwassenheid blijven bestaan. Er zijn evidence based behandelingen voor gezinnen van tieners die ernstig externaliserend gedrag vertonen, maar er zijn maar weinig opvoedprogramma’s geëvalueerd voor adolescenten met subklinische gedragsproblemen. In deze gerandomiseerde gecontroleerde trial (N = 75) deden we onderzoek naar de uitvoerbaarheid en werkzaamheid van Parent-Web, een nieuw online opvoedprogramma voor ouders van tieners. De deelnemers hebben aangegeven dat zij zeer tevreden zijn met het programma, 74 % heeft alle vijf modules afgerond en de uitval is maar 14 %. Gegeneraliseerd lineair gemengde modellen laten op korte termijn (8 weken) verbeteringen zien van het door de ouder gerapporteerde externaliserend gedrag van de tiener, en van conflicten en warmte binnen het gezin, vergeleken met de wachtlijst controlegroep. Deelname aan Parent-Web zou ook verband houden met door de ouder gerapporteerde verbeteringen van emotionele symptomen, problemen met leeftijdgenoten van de tiener en stress en depressie bij de ouder. Er zijn geen verschillen gevonden voor het opvoedgedrag tussen de twee groepen. De in het programma behaalde winst voor de primaire uitkomstmaten in de interventiegroep bleef behouden bij de follow-up na zes tot negen maanden. Dat de gegevens enkel zijn verkregen via ouderrapportage en dat de steekproef relatief klein was, zijn beperkingen van dit onderzoek, maar toch kunnen we concluderen dat we met deze studie een bijdrage leveren aan het voorlopige bewijs van het nut van een interventie voor ouders van adolescenten met een risico op gedragsproblemen.
