Tóm tắt

This paper presents a description of and perspective on the evolution of couples group. It proposes that each of the three phases is created by a specific therapeutic stance that is helpful in managing dyadic relationships in groups. Issues particular to couples group will be discussed. These issues occur in couples groups due to the presence of a partner and include the establishment of trust, each couple's allocation of blame, and expression of sexuality. These points are illustrated with clinical vignettes from an ongoing open-ended group.
