Nghiên cứu hiện tại tìm cách làm sáng tỏ các chiều hướng của sự tự chỉ trích và tiêu chuẩn cá nhân của sự hoàn hảo và sự phụ thuộc như là những yếu tố dễ tổn thương về nhận thức - tính cách cụ thể có thể góp phần mang lại hiểu biết tốt hơn về nhiều lĩnh vực vấn đề tâm lý xã hội liên quan đến bệnh động mạch vành (CAD). Một trăm hai mươi ba bệnh nhân được chẩn đoán mắc CAD có ý nghĩa lâm sàng đã hoàn thành các bảng hỏi tự báo cáo. Kết quả phân tích tương quan bậc không và phân tích yếu tố cho thấy rằng sự tự chỉ trích chủ yếu có liên quan đến tính dễ tổn thương về tính cách (aggression/anger/hostility, ảnh hưởng tiêu cực loại D) và sự thích ứng tâm lý xã hội kém (triệu chứng trầm cảm, lo lắng, đối phó tránh né, sự không hài lòng với hỗ trợ), trong khi đó tiêu chuẩn cá nhân chủ yếu có liên quan đến việc đối phó thích nghi (đối phó tập trung vào vấn đề, tái diễn giải tích cực) và sự phụ thuộc chủ yếu có liên quan đến lo âu. Kết quả hồi quy phân cấp cho thấy giá trị tăng thêm của sự tự chỉ trích, tiêu chuẩn cá nhân và sự phụ thuộc liên quan đến (mất) sự thích ứng vượt ra ngoài sự tức giận/giận dữ/thù địch, ảnh hưởng tiêu cực và sự ức chế xã hội.
