Nghiên cứu này đánh giá mối liên hệ giữa các mô hình hành vi liên quan đến lối sống và các chỉ số tình trạng cân nặng ở trẻ em học đường. Nghiên cứu cắt ngang bao gồm mẫu đại diện quốc gia của trẻ em Bồ Đào Nha (6–9 tuổi; n = 10,258). Tình trạng cân nặng được đánh giá bằng chỉ số khối cơ thể (BMI) và vòng eo (WC). Phân tích thành phần chính được sử dụng để xác định các mô hình hành vi liên quan đến lối sống. Các mô hình hồi quy tuyến tính đa biến được sử dụng để ước tính mối liên hệ giữa các mô hình hành vi, BMI và WC. Sáu mô hình hành vi liên quan đến lối sống đã được xác định: mô hình 1: tiêu thụ trà đá và nước ngọt ≥2 lần/tuần, có tivi trong phòng ngủ, xem tivi ≥2 giờ/ngày, và tiêu thụ <2 phần trái cây/ngày; mô hình 2: cha mẹ và trẻ em giữ tình trạng không hoạt động trong thời gian rảnh; mô hình 3: tiêu thụ ≤1 phần rau củ và sữa/ngày; mô hình 4: có cha mẹ thừa cân; mô hình 5: tiêu thụ ≤3 bữa ăn hàng ngày và bỏ bữa sáng; và mô hình 6: không tham gia các lớp giáo dục thể chất. Sau khi điều chỉnh, tất cả các mô hình đều liên quan đến việc tăng điểm BMI z-score (P ≤ 0.02) và WC (P ≤ 0.03). Các mô hình hành vi liên quan đến lối sống có liên quan đến nguy cơ tăng cân và phân bố mỡ nội tạng gia tăng. Nhằm ngăn ngừa béo phì ở trẻ em từ góc độ sức khỏe cộng đồng, cần đặc biệt chú ý đến việc xác định các nhóm có sự xuất hiện đồng thời của nhiều hành vi có nguy cơ, điều này rất hữu ích cho việc lập kế hoạch các chương trình phòng ngừa.
