Observations on new kinds of silica deposits inRhynchospora spp
Tóm tắt
An examination of the epidermal characteristics of leaves, sheaths and culms of five species ofRhynchospora reveals silica materials occurring in different interesting forms, sizes and patterns of organiwise distribution in particular combination. These silica materials are designated as silica deposits and considered atypical in contrast to the conventional types of cone-shaped silica bodies surrounded by the satellites or no satellites. Eleven different types of silica deposits have been recognized whose characteristics, specieswise representation have not only been described but also their diagnostic importance has been indicated.
