Bệnh nhân phẫu thuật giảm béo có thể gặp phải những vấn đề lâm sàng cụ thể sau phẫu thuật, và thường được theo dõi đa ngành dài hạn tại các trung tâm chuyên khoa. Tuy nhiên, các bác sĩ, bác sĩ sản khoa, chuyên gia dinh dưỡng, y tá, dược sĩ lâm sàng, nữ hộ sinh và nhà vật lý trị liệu không được đào tạo chuyên sâu về y học giảm béo có thể gặp bệnh nhân sau phẫu thuật giảm béo với những vấn đề cụ thể trong hoạt động nghề nghiệp của họ. Điều này tạo ra nhu cầu ngày càng tăng về việc phổ biến kiến thức cấp một trong việc quản lý bệnh nhân phẫu thuật giảm béo. Do đó, Lực lượng Tác chiến Quản lý Béo phì (OMTF) của Hiệp hội Châu Âu về Nghiên cứu Béo phì (EASO) đã quyết định soạn thảo và phổ biến một tài liệu chứa các khuyến nghị thực tiễn cho việc quản lý bệnh nhân sau phẫu thuật giảm béo. Danh sách các khuyến nghị thực tiễn được bao gồm trong tài liệu EASO/OMTF được báo cáo trong thông tin ngắn này.
