Kể từ đầu những năm 2000, việc giảm thiểu các phương pháp cưỡng chế đã trở thành một xu hướng trong chăm sóc sức khỏe tâm thần ở Phần Lan. Kết hợp với những ý tưởng đang chuyển mình về quá trình chữa lành, sự giảm thiểu này đã thay đổi các phương thức hoạt động trong các cơ sở chăm sóc sức khỏe tâm thần pháp y, khuyến khích những nỗ lực nhằm tăng cường tự quyết và trách nhiệm cá nhân. Bài báo này đề cập đến sự đồng tồn tại của các chế độ thân thể trước đây và hiện tại, cùng với những sắp đặt không gian và thân thể phức tạp và tranh chấp phát sinh. Chúng tôi kết hợp các thảo luận về quyền lực sinh học và các chế độ thân thể trong phân tích của mình về các thực hành và thương thảo liên quan đến các phương pháp thay thế cưỡng chế (quan sát đặc biệt và trang phục hạn chế), các thực hành hàng ngày (ăn uống và tập thể dục), và các thương thảo liên quan đến sự chạm và tình dục.
