Quá trình điều chỉnh biểu hiện gen toàn cầu trong suốt thời kỳ trưởng thành của quả táo và những thay đổi liên quan đến kết cấu đã được đánh giá thông qua profiling trình tự gen và sự đặc trưng có hệ thống về quá trình trưởng thành của hai giống, ‘Honeycrisp’ (HC) và ‘Cripps Pink’ (CP). Một vi mạch táo có độ dày cao với 190.135 đầu dò isothermal 50–70-mer không có sự bắt chéo, đại diện cho 23.997 unigenes, đã được thiết kế và sản xuất trên nền tảng vi mạch NimbleGen. Tế bào vỏ từ cả HC và CP tại ba giai đoạn trưởng thành, tức là, 4, 2 và 0 tuần trước khi chín sinh lý, đã được sử dụng để profiling trình tự gen.
