Các ứng dụng sức khỏe di động ngày càng được sử dụng nhiều hơn ở bệnh nhân mắc Bệnh phổi tắc nghẽn mạn tính (COPD) nhằm cải thiện khả năng quản lý bản thân. Tuy nhiên, vẫn chưa có bằng chứng chắc chắn về hiệu quả của chúng. Phân tích tổng hợp này nhằm đánh giá hiệu quả của các ứng dụng sức khỏe di động trong việc hỗ trợ quản lý tự chăm sóc như một can thiệp nhằm giảm tỉ lệ nhập viện và số ngày trung bình nằm viện. Các cơ sở dữ liệu PubMed, Web of Science (SCI), Thư viện Cochrane và Embase đã được tìm kiếm cho các bài báo liên quan công bố trước ngày 14 tháng 11 năm 2017. Cuối cùng, có tổng cộng 6 báo cáo bao gồm các thử nghiệm ngẫu nhiên đối chứng (RCT) đã được đưa vào phân tích tổng hợp này. Bệnh nhân sử dụng ứng dụng di động có thể có nguy cơ nhập viện thấp hơn so với nhóm chăm sóc thông thường (tỉ lệ rủi ro (RR) = 0.73, 95% CI [0.52, 1.04]). Tuy nhiên, không có sự khác biệt có ý nghĩa thống kê trong việc giảm số ngày trung bình nằm viện. Việc quản lý tự chăm sóc bằng các ứng dụng di động có thể làm giảm tỉ lệ nhập viện của bệnh nhân mắc COPD.
