Tóm tắt Các ngân hàng sinh học hiện đại duy trì các vật liệu sống quý giá cho chẩn đoán y tế, y học sinh sản và các mục đích bảo tồn. Để đảm bảo chất lượng cao trong quá trình lưu trữ dài hạn và tránh các hoạt động chuyển hóa, việc lưu trữ đông lạnh thường được thực hiện trong pha hơi N2 hoặc trong nitơ lỏng (LN) ở nhiệt độ dưới -150 °C. Một rủi ro tiềm ẩn của việc lưu trữ đông lạnh là sự ô nhiễm chéo vi sinh vật trong các bể chứa LN. Bài đánh giá hiện tại tổng hợp dữ liệu về sự xuất hiện của các vi sinh vật có thể ảnh hưởng đến an toàn và chất lượng của các vật liệu sinh học trong quá trình lưu trữ dài hạn. Chúng tôi đánh giá tiềm năng ô nhiễm vi sinh vật của LN trong các bể chứa các vật liệu sinh học khác nhau dựa trên việc phát hiện bằng các phương pháp dựa trên văn hóa và phân tử. Chính các mẫu vật, LN, hệ vi sinh vật của con người, và môi trường xung quanh là những con đường ô nhiễm có khả năng xảy ra và có thể gây ra ô nhiễm chéo thông qua pha LN. Một khảo sát ngắn đã chứng minh sự hiểu biết về ô nhiễm vi sinh vật của các thùng chứa lưu trữ giữa các bộ sưu tập văn hóa khác nhau. Mặc dù hầu hết các người tham gia coi rủi ro ô nhiễm chéo trong các bể chứa LN là thấp, nhưng họ ngăn ngừa các ô nhiễm tiềm ẩn bằng cách sử dụng thiết bị đóng kín và tủ đông ở -150 °C.
