Phân tích microarray đã được thực hiện sử dụng mẫu gan từ hai gia đình cá hồi cầu vồng khác nhau về phản ứng tăng trưởng khi so sánh giữa các cá thể được cho ăn chế độ ăn dựa trên bột cá hoặc protein thực vật. Sự biểu hiện khác nhau liên quan đến việc sử dụng chế độ ăn giữa hai gia đình đã tìm thấy những thay đổi đáng kể trong biểu hiện của 33 thẻ trình tự biểu hiện (ESTs). Tám trong số các ESTs có biểu hiện khác nhau đã xác định được homolog ở động vật có vú mà trước đó đã được nghiên cứu với các tương tác và chức năng tế bào đã biết. Sử dụng phần mềm phân tích lộ trình để phân tích các trình tự được chú thích với các gen động vật có vú đã biết, chúng tôi có thể lập bản đồ các lộ trình gen và các quá trình tương tác.
