Trong nghiên cứu này, dữ liệu về các cộng đồng Archaea sinh khí metan trong trầm tích từ khu vực ven biển vịnh Puck đã được khảo sát. Trầm tích được thu thập dọc theo bán đảo Hel từ các khu vực có sự xuất hiện của bọt khí. Dựa trên phân tích các dấu phân tử, sự hiện diện của một gen Archaea sinh khí metan cụ thể đã được phát hiện ở tất cả các trạm. Nghiên cứu tiếp theo liên quan đến việc nhân bản và giải trình tự DNA sinh khí metan. Dựa trên sự so sánh các chuỗi gen thu được với các cơ sở dữ liệu gen hiện có, đã xác nhận rằng tất cả các chuỗi nucleotide thuộc về miền Archaea. Hơn nữa, trong trầm tích được khảo sát, một số chuỗi có những điểm tương đồng nhất định với các chuỗi của các sinh vật thuộc các họ Methanosarcinaceae, Methanospirillaceae và Methanocorpusculaceae.
