So với hệ thống nuôi cấy máu trên lam, hệ thống ly tâm lysis phát hiện được nhiều mẫu máu dương tính hơn và nhiều trường hợp nhiễm khuẩn máu hơn ở những bệnh nhân suy giảm miễn dịch (ngay cả khi đang dùng kháng sinh), đồng thời cho kết quả nhanh hơn và ở số lượng vi khuẩn có khả năng gây bệnh (CFUs) thấp hơn một cách đáng kể. Tuy nhiên, hệ thống này có tỷ lệ nhiễm bẩn cao và không phát hiện
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
được thường xuyên như mong đợi. Khuyến nghị sử dụng kết hợp cả hai hệ thống này để chẩn đoán sớm nhiễm khuẩn máu ở bệnh nhân suy giảm miễn dịch.
