Mười hai bệnh nhân đã được điều trị bằng cytosine arabinoside liều thấp (15 mg/m2). Tám bệnh nhân mắc bệnh bạch cầu tủy cấp (AML), hai bệnh nhân mắc hội chứng rối loạn tạo máu (MDS) và hai bệnh nhân mắc bệnh xơ tủy. Ba bệnh nhân mắc AML đạt được đáp ứng hoàn toàn (CR), và một bệnh nhân đạt CR sau khi bổ sung thuốc COAP (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, cytosine arabinoside, prednisone). Hai bệnh nhân mắc MDS đạt được CR, một bệnh nhân cần bổ sung COAP. Một trong hai bệnh nhân mắc bệnh xơ tủy cho thấy phản ứng một phần với điều trị. Tất cả các bệnh nhân đều cần hỗ trợ tiểu cầu tích cực nhưng tỷ lệ nhiễm trùng rất thấp. Cytosine arabinoside liều thấp nên được xem xét như liệu pháp ban đầu ở những bệnh nhân cao tuổi mắc AML và MDS. Vai trò của nó trong bệnh xơ tủy vẫn cần được xác định.
