Tại khối Bắc Trung Quốc, kiến tạo giãn nở Tân Tạo được thể hiện qua nhiều pluton đồng kiến tạo bị giới hạn bởi các đứt gãy thông thường dẻo và một số tổ hợp lõi biến chất (MCC). Các nửa graben Tân Tạo ngập lạm vào trầm tích đất liền là rất phổ biến. Các ví dụ về MCC từ Bán đảo Nam Liêu Ninh, Yiwulüshan, Hohhot cũng như pluton đồng kiến tạo Yunmengshan kéo dài khoảng 2000 km gợi ý rằng kiến tạo giãn nở sớm Tân Tạo ở khối Bắc Trung Quốc có tính đối xứng toàn cầu. Cài đặt địa động lực học cho sự giãn nở quy mô lục địa này vẫn còn gây tranh cãi. Nó không được giải thích thỏa đáng bởi sự tách giãn kéo theo cung Tây Thái Bình Dương liên quan đến sự xói mòn hoặc việc "không dày thêm" của lớp vỏ.
