Virus là mối đe dọa nghiêm trọng đối với sản xuất ớt trên toàn cầu. Việc sàng lọc kháng thể đối với nhiều loại virus đã dẫn đến việc xác định một kiểu gen kháng nhiều loại virus được gọi là 'IHR 2451'. Các mồi khuyết tật dựa trên các vùng bảo tồn giữa P-Loop và GLPL của các gen kháng bệnh (R-genes) đã được sử dụng để khuếch đại các vị trí liên kết nucleotide (NBS)—các vùng mã hóa từ kiểu gen 'IHR 2451'. Việc căn chỉnh các chuỗi axit amin suy diễn và phân tích phát sinh chủng loại các chuỗi được phân lập đã phân biệt thành hai nhóm đại diện cho thụ thể interleukin-1 (TIR) và không-TIR, cùng với các gia đình khác trong nhóm, xác nhận giả thuyết rằng thực vật hai lá có cả hai loại gen NBS-LRR. Sự căn chỉnh các chuỗi axit amin suy diễn đã tiết lộ sự bảo tồn của các miền con P-loop, RNBS-A, kinase2, RNBS-B và GLPL. Năm RGA đặc trưng cho thấy các motif bảo tồn cụ thể đã được tiến hành phân tích BLASTp và cho thấy sự đồng nhất cao ở mức axit amin suy diễn với các gen R đã được xác định như gen Pvr9 cho sự kháng bệnh virus poty, các protein đồng hình kháng khuẩn blight muộn giả định R1B-23 và các gen kháng bệnh khác, gợi ý sự tương quan cao với khả năng kháng lại các tác nhân gây bệnh khác nhau. Các RGA ớt này có thể được coi là các chuỗi ứng cử viên của các gen kháng bệnh để phát triển thẻ gen.
