Virus là mối đe dọa nghiêm trọng đối với sản xuất ớt trên toàn cầu. Việc sàng lọc kháng thể đối với nhiều loại virus đã dẫn đến việc xác định một kiểu gen kháng nhiều loại virus được gọi là 'IHR 2451'. Các mồi khuyết tật dựa trên các vùng bảo tồn giữa P-Loop và GLPL của các gen kháng bệnh (R-genes) đã được sử dụng để khuếch đại các vị trí liên kết nucleotide (NBS)—các vùng mã hóa từ kiểu gen 'IHR 2451'.
