In this debate between the teams of Bernini[52]and Saladino [34]it is of interest to introduce two reports. According to Abu‐Omar et al. MeReO3and peroxorhenium species are insoluble in diethyl ether.[54]Nevertheless a drop of activity has been observed by Bäckvall et al. for recycling experiments where MeReO3was used as the co‐catalyst of the osmium‐catalyzed dihydroxylation of alkenes by H2O2in a [C4mim][PF6]/ Me2CO/H2O/Et4NOAc mixture the extraction of the organic compounds being carried out with diethyl ether.[55]
