Tóm tắtDù là một trong những thông tin phổ biến nhất được sử dụng để đánh giá tình trạng của các quần thể cá, chỉ số sự phong phú tương đối dựa trên dữ liệu bắt trên mỗi đơn vị nỗ lực (cpue) lại gặp phải nhiều vấn đề. Dữ liệu cpue thô hiếm khi tỷ lệ thuận với độ phong phú trên toàn bộ lịch sử khai thác và trong một phạm vi địa lý, bởi vì nhiều yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến tỷ lệ bắt. Một trong những phân tích ngư nghiệp thường được áp dụng nhất là chuẩn hóa dữ liệu cpue nhằm loại bỏ tác động của các yếu tố gây thiên lệch cpue như một chỉ số về sự phong phú.
