Tóm tắt

A series of petals arrayed around a central region induces an illusory brightness effect that is systematically related to the angle formed by the petals and the perimeter of the illusory brightness. As the petals veer to become tangents the illusory brightness decreases. The effect is not contingent on illusory stratification, or assimilation between the petals.
