Hoạt động hạ lipid của chiết xuất hạt Cassia tora (Chakvat, Chakunda) (Họ: Caesalpiniaceae) đã được nghiên cứu trong hai mô hình tăng lipid máu trên chuột. Trong mô hình cấp tính, tăng lipid máu được gây ra bằng cách tiêm một liều đơn Triton WR-1339 (400 mg/kg, trọng lượng cơ thể) vào khoang bụng của chuột. Việc cho chuột ăn chiết xuất hạt C. tora với liều 500 mg/kg, trọng lượng cơ thể đã thể hiện hiệu quả hạ lipid đáng kể, được đánh giá thông qua mức độ cholesterol toàn phần, phospholipid, triglyceride trong huyết tương và sự phục hồi hoạt tính lipolytic sau heparin. Trong mô hình mạn tính, tăng lipid máu được gây ra bằng cách cho chuột ăn chế độ ăn giàu cholesterol (HFD). Việc điều trị bằng chiết xuất hạt C. tora (500 mg/kg, trọng lượng cơ thể) liên tục trong 15 ngày cũng đã làm giảm nồng độ lipid trong huyết tương và gan, theo sau là việc phục hồi hoạt tính lipolytic huyết tương sau heparin và hoạt tính lipase lipoprotein gan ở động vật. Hoạt động hạ lipid của hạt C. tora được so sánh với thuốc chuẩn guggulipid (200 mg/kg, trọng lượng cơ thể) trong cả hai mô hình.
