Tình trạng tỷ lệ nhiễm của bọ cánh cứng Scolytus kashmirensis Schedl trên cây dương (Ulmus spp.) được xác định ở bốn huyện của thung lũng Kashmir vào năm 2009. Tỷ lệ nhiễm của bọ cánh cứng cao nhất trong các huyện Anantnag (25.93%) và Shopian (22.35%) của thung lũng Kashmir, tiếp theo là huyện Ganderbal (17.14%) và Baramulla (16.67%). Tổng tỷ lệ nhiễm ghi nhận trong các huyện này là 20.52%. Cả hai loài cây dương, Ulmus wallichiana và U. villosa, đều bị bọ cánh cứng tấn công; tuy nhiên, U. villosa cho thấy tính nhạy cảm thấp và khả năng kháng cao hơn so với U. wallichiana. Những cây dương lớn hơn, cao hơn thường được các loài bọ cánh cứng ưu tiên để ăn, do đó chúng có nguy cơ nhiễm bệnh cao hơn so với những cây dương nhỏ hơn. Loài bọ cánh cứng này cũng ưu tiên đẻ trứng trên các cành của cây chủ có đường kính từ 9-12 mm.
