Có nhiều báo cáo về ung thư dạ dày sau phẫu thuật giảm cân, nhưng vẫn chưa rõ liệu các thủ thuật này có làm tăng nguy cơ ung thư hay không. Chúng tôi trình bày một trường hợp của một người đàn ông 60 tuổi, sau 15 năm thực hiện phẫu thuật tạo hình dạ dày đứng (VBG), đã bị chảy máu tiêu hóa trên ồ ạt. Nội soi cho thấy một khối u lớn ở túi dạ dày. Sinh thiết xác nhận đây là một loại ung thư biểu mô tuyến dạ dày thuộc loại ruột, phát triển trên nền viêm dạ dày âm tính với H. pylori có teo, tăng sản foveolar và metaplasia ruột.
