Load transmission in friction joints is limited by the coefficient of static friction of the respective mating materials. ESK Ceramics GmbH & Co. KG produces nickel-diamond coated foils that can increase the load transfer capability of friction joints subjected to torsional or shear loads by up to 300 %.
