Việc theo dõi sau điều trị cho bệnh nhân ung thư đầu và cổ ngoài carcinom tế bào vảy đường hô hấp trên cần đáp ứng một số mục tiêu: phát hiện sự tái phát tại chỗ, khu vực hoặc xa, đánh giá tác dụng phụ cấp tính và mãn tính liên quan đến điều trị, hướng dẫn quá trình phục hồi, và cung cấp hỗ trợ tâm lý xã hội khi cần thiết.
