Ung thư không phải là hiếm gặp ở phụ nữ trẻ trong độ tuổi sinh sản, do đó việc bảo tồn khả năng sinh sản ở họ đã trở thành một vấn đề đáng lo ngại do phải trải qua các liệu trình điều trị ung thư mạnh mẽ. Hiện nay, có nhiều chiến lược khác nhau để bảo tồn khả năng sinh sản cho các bệnh nhân có nguy cơ. Tuy nhiên, nhiều kỹ thuật hiện có vẫn đang trong giai đoạn thử nghiệm và có kinh nghiệm lâm sàng hạn chế. Dưới góc độ đạo đức, việc hợp tác liên ngành tốt hơn giữa các bác sĩ lâm sàng và bệnh nhân, tư vấn phù hợp và nghiên cứu thêm về các kỹ thuật đông lạnh và cấy ghép có thể nâng cao khả năng thành công trong việc bảo tồn khả năng sinh sản của các nạn nhân trẻ mắc ung thư.
